Dental Implants

Tooth loss is never ideal, but sometimes a necessary way to address a troubled tooth. If you face a dental extraction, both Dr. Rowberry and Dr. Vergien are skilled in a number of tooth-replacement options that meet the varying needs of our patients.

Many of our patients opt for dental implants to replace missing teeth because it is the most convenient option and is almost like having your natural tooth back again.

What Is a Dental Implant?

Most dental implants consists of three main parts:

Dental implant post – This is the part of the dental implant beneath your gums. It is made of a biocompatible metal, such as titanium. Your dental implant post replaces the root of your tooth.

Abutment – An abutment attaches to both your implant post and your dental implant crown, giving it a stable base.

Implant crown – We design dental implant crowns to match your smile, so they blend in. Made of durable porcelain, dental implant crowns are strong and can withstand the force of chewing.

Dental Implant Treatment

We work with experienced and qualified specialists to plan your dental implant treatment. We will recommend someone we trust to surgically place your dental implants into your bone. Choosing the ideal location is essential to the stability of your dental implant. If you do not have sufficient bone to support a dental implant, bone grafting can increase the density, allowing you to proceed with treatment.

Your implant post will bond with your natural bone. This process can take about 3-4 months. While waiting can be a challenge, ultimately it will give you the most reliable results and be well worth the wait!

Once the healing process completes, Dr. Rowberry or Dr. Vergien will design a custom dental crown to complete your smile. They will match the shade of your tooth to your remaining teeth, so that it blends in perfectly.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Patients often prefer dental implants to other tooth-replacement options because they provide many long-term benefits.

  • Bone retention – Tooth loss can lead to bone loss. Dental implants support your bone and reduce deterioration.
  • Unrestricted diet – You can eat all the foods you love. It is always wise to avoid chewing ice and biting into other hard substances because it can damage your crown.
  • Long-term solution – Dental implants require only minor adjustments over the years. If you damage your dental crown, we can often replace that without having to replace your entire dental implant.
  • Convenience – You can brush and floss your teeth normally. Be sure to keep up with your regular dental exams and cleanings.
